Copenhagen talks failed to come to a real consensus. It’s a setback for Nepal being one of the most vulnerable areas to the impacts of Climate Change.

The WWF led Climate-For-Life Campaign succeeded, however, to raise awareness and increase the profile of the Himalayas in the Global Climate Debate.

Kathmandu, Nepal – Despite rhetoric from top political leaders of the world, hectic parleys of the negotiators, public demonstrations world wide and wider interest generated by the media the world over, Copenhagen Cop-15 Conference has failed to live up to the expectations associated with it by the poor and vulnerable populations of the world. WWF Nepal, and indeed the whole of Nepal stands disappointed of this dismal show of commitment of the world leaders.
 

Sherpa's European Expedition Continues with Great Success - Meet high-level politicians and Ambassadors

Kathmandu, Nepal – Climate-for-Life Ambassadors Apa Sherpa and Dawa Steven Sherpa continued with their ten-city European Expedition meeting high level politicians in Europe in their bid to raise the profile of Himalayas in the Global Climate Debate.

Brussels, Belgium- After massive success in their visits to Prague, Bratislava, London, Rome, Geneva, Chamonix, and Vienna, the Climate for Life Ambassadors continued onwards to the Belgian Capital of Brussels. There, as everywhere else, they were warmly welcomed by the people of the city.

 

Austrian Federal President receives rock piece from Everest Summit as a symbol of melting Himalayas

Vienna, Austria - Austrian President Heinz Fischer today received a rock piece from the summit of Mount Everest as a symbol of melting Himalayas in the wake of Climate Change from Climate for Life Ambassadors Apa and Dawa Sherpa. The duo also presented a letter from the Nepalese Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.

 

Apa and Dawa Sherpa receive WWF's most prestigious "Leaders for a Living Planet" award

Geneva, Switzerland – Climate-for-Life Ambassadors Apa and Dawa Sherpa received WWF's most prestigious "Leaders for a Living Planet" award in a ceremony held at Gland, WWF's Secretariat in Switzerland. WWF International's Director General Jim Leape felicitated Apa and Dawa with the highest honour given to an individual by WWF, the global conservation organization.

Kathmandu, Nepal – Legendary mountaineer Apa Sherpa and Everest summiteer Dawa Steven Sherpa are embarking on a European Expedition through 10 European cities starting from Prague, through Brno, Bratislava, London, Rome, Geneva, Chamonix, Vienna, Brussels and finally to Copenhagen to raise awareness about impacts of Climate Change in the Himalayas.
